31-year-old Spencer Golden allegedly followed a woman into a restroom at the Olean Center Mall, forced her against a wall and forcibly touched her.
The woman screamed for help and Golden ran from the restroom. He was picked up by police short time later.
Just a couple of days before the alleged assault, Golden had been released from a prison in Elmira, where he was serving time for burglary.
Golden is being held in Cattaraugus County Jail.
